The Facebook Pixel is a small piece of base code that goes on every page of your website. This tracks the ‘Page View’ standard event.
Now with this installed we can insert other standard events on specific pages of your site to track the event and retarget adverts to the users firing these events.
Here’s an example, let’s say you get about 200 views per month on your Finance page. We can track these views AND the Facebook Pixel will store a piece of information on each user (hidden from us) that enables us to target those users with adverts on Facebook and Instagram. The beauty of this is that we can tailor adverts and target them towards people who are taking certain actions on your website.
Another event is lead generation. Do you have a ‘thank-you’ page on your website that people are directed to after they’ve filled out a contact form? Perfect. We can insert the ‘Lead’ event onto this page and track users who fire this event. This means that if we run an advert to get people to fill out a form on your website, then we can track how many people fired this event by clicking our advert on Facebook or Instagram. Not only that, but we can retarget these users with future offers, promotions or new stock.
